Yes, I’m a Pakistan. Yes, I am a woman. And yes, I’m not afraid to say that Pakistan is a terrible place for women and that no woman should ever have to live in a place where they are not safe. Pakistan doesn’t deserve its women.
The religious narrative in Pakistan will make you think that Pakistanis respect women a lot. That so far from the truth. Women have no security and no rights in Pakistan. You can Google the facts and numbers but they would hardly tell you the mental, emotional, and physical abuse women and girls experience in Pakistan. It’s one of the most repressive societies for women.
Most people don’t say it out of patriotism but I have no loyalty to a place that does not respect its women. It’s a predatory society that only wants to control women. Like I said, no woman should ever have to live in that place.
